महाराष्ट्राच्या लोकसेवा आयोगानं राज्यसेवेची परीक्षा पद्धती बदलण्याच्या निर्णयाविरोधात पुण्यात मंगळवारी विद्यार्थ्यांनी पुन्हा आंदोलन केल्यानंतर अखेर हा बदल २०२५ पासून लागू करण्याचा निर्णय राज्य सरकारनं घेतला. पहिल्या काँग्रेस-आयोजित आंदोलनांनंतर प्रश्न न सुटल्यानं विद्यार्थ्यांनी केलेल्या या दुसऱ्या 'अराजकीय' आंदोलनाच्या वेळी सरकारची बाजू मांडण्यासाठी भाजपचे विधानपरिषदेतील आमदार गोपीचंद पडळकर आणि भाजपचे औसा मतदारसंघाचे आमदार अभिमन्यू पवार उपस्थित होते.

The traffic congestion in Pune is not just a trouble for drivers, but pedestrians too are enraged due to it. Vehicles, especially two-wheelers, being driven over the footpaths in the city during peak traffic hours as the roads are jammed, are proving to be a headache for pedestrians. Moreover, parked vehicles, broken pavements and hawkers, are leaving almost little to no space to walk over footpaths, compelling people to walk on the roads amid traffic.

Fish markets call bandh as coastal villages protest Vadhavan port

Fisherfolk across villages along Maharashtra’s coastline observed a black flag protest on Sunday, October 2 against the upcoming mega port in Vadhavan in the Palghar district. Villagers from Zai in Palghar (near Gujarat border) to Tarapore in Mumbai responded to the call of protest by keeping fish markets in their villages closed and forming human chains, chanting slogans against the port. Rallies were also organised in several villages along the coastline.

Amid ban on plastic, demand remains elastic

The ban on single use plastic (SUP) imposed by the Central Government has started affecting the livelihoods of small vendors such as fruits and vegetable sellers. The shopkeepers and vendors at Mahatma Phule Mandai say that they were not given prior notice in advance or enough time to transition to the ban. Officials at the PMC however say that such notices were not issued because this is a continuation of the already existing ban on SUP in the state.
