Business Standard report says that Aadhaar number mandatory for availing of government subsidies and benefits

Business Standard report says that the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has now made it mandatory to have an Aadhaar number on the enrollment slip to avail of government subsidies and benefits. As per the report, the move was announced on August 11, in a series of circulars. The circulars were marked all to the state and the central ministries stating that as of June 30, 2022, more than 99 percent of the adult residents of India have been issued Aadhaar numbers barring a few states. Additionally, it also mentions that under section 7 of the Aadhaar Act, a person who hasn’t been assigned an Aadhaar number shall be offered an alternative and viable means of identification for delivery of subsidy. BBC report states that Biden signs climate, tax and health bill into law

 

BBC in today’s report states that US president Joe Biden has signed a $700 billion bill that aims to fight climate change and healthcare costs while raising taxes mainly on the rich. Mid-day reports that 3 percent DA hike will be granted for all Maharashtra govt employees

Mid-day reports that Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced that the State Government employees will be given a three percent hike on the Dearness Allowance, which is an amount calculated on the inflation and the allowance paid to the government employees and pensioners. The revised DA will be applicable from August as mentioned in the report. With the hike included the DA has now been raised to 34 percent against the basic salary. Swine Flu cases increase in Thane, death toll reaches 9, Free Press Journal

Free Press Journal’s report states that the number of swine flu patients in Thane has increased with 342 new cases and the death toll has reached nine. Three days ago, the death figure was seven. The report also shared a statement by the health official from Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) that states that a large number of swine flu patients are found in the urban areas and most of the patients are in Thane city. CNN business: UK inflation hits new high, exceeds 40 percent

 

CNN report on business reports that inflation in the United Kingdom has hit a new 40-year high last month by rising above 10 percent for the first time since 1982. With the hiked inflation, households feel the pain while already struggling to pay their bills, the prices of basic goods like bread and milk have soared.
