"You Killed Bharat Mata In Manipur": Rahul Gandhi's remarks reported by NDTV

Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi spoke on Manipur Violence in Lok Sabha on Wednesday. Attacking Narendra Modi Government for ongoing violence in Manipur he claimed that BJP has murdered Bharat Mata in Manipur. This was his first speech in Lok sabha after being reinstated as MP. BBC report: 41 migrants die in shipwreck off Italy

 

In an unfortunate incident reported by BBC, at least 41 migrant workers have died in a shipwreck off the coast of the Italian island of Lampedusa. As per the information given by four survivors, the ship set off from Tunisia and sank on the way to Italy. More than 1,800 people have died so far this year while trying to cross from North Africa to Europe. The report mentions that the Italian coast guard reported two shipwrecks in the area on Sunday, but it is not clear whether this vessel is one of those. Read the full report here.

 

Chinese foreign minister to visit Singapore, Malaysia and Cambodia: The Strait Times 

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who has returned to the post, will visit three southeastern Asian countries to build ties in the region. The Straits Times reports that he will travel to the three countries from Thursday to Sunday. Cambodia has become one of China’s strongest allies in the region under the rule of outgoing Prime Minister Hun Sen, the report adds. China’s relations with Southeast Asia have been complicated by its self-proclaimed control over most of the South China Sea, it says. Read the full report here.

 

The Hindu reports Kerala changes official name of State to ‘Keralam’

The Hindu reports that the Kerala state assembly unanimously passed a resolution urging the central government to change the name of state from Kerala to Keralam. The resolution was ta bled in the House by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan. It was accepted by the Congress-led UDF opposition. The report adds that while introducing the resolution, the chief minister expressed that in Malayalam, the state is referred to as 'Keralam', whereas in other languages, it is known as Kerala. The Quint special report: Gurugram struggles after Muslim migrants flee

 

After anti-Muslim violence erupted in Gurugram last week, many Muslims left Gurugram. Muslim migrants from different states such as Bihar and West Bengal, were either expelled from their rented rooms or left out of fear of violence.
