Developing story: 2 Journalists arrested from Singhu border for covering Police action

Delhi: The Delhi Police have arrested The Caravan Magazine reporter Mandeep Punia from Singhu border. He was covering the ground situation from the protest site. According to his associates, he has been taken to Alipur Police station of Delhi and has been booked under charges of section 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty). 

According to NewsLaudry reporters, one more journalist of online news portal NewsIndia whose name is not yet identified is also detained by Delhi police.

The video shared on social media is showing how he is being arrested by police and taken in custody. It is said that he was recording live camera footage of police barricading a local resident from entering into protest site.

 

Mandeep Punia is a freelance journalist associated with The Caravan Magazine and Junputh. He has been taken in police custody from the Singhu Morcha stage of the Kisan Majdoor Sangharsh Committee at the Delhi-Singhu border while he was reporting.

Journalists and protesters are sharing the details with #FreeMundeepPunia and demanding for his release.
