NDTV on Bangladesh top envoy summoned by foreign ministry

NDTV reports that the Foreign Ministry today summoned Nural Islam, Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh to India, to discuss the escalating tensions between New Delhi and Dhaka. On Sunday, the Bangladeshi Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma following allegations that India was attempting to construct fences at five specific locations along the 4,156-kilometre Indo-Bangladeshi border. Crucial Z-Morh tunnel gets a new name as PM Modi inaugurates: Indian Express

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Monday inaugurated the Z-Morh tunnel at Sonamarg, a strategic infrastructural project that is key to all-weather connectivity to Ladakh, Indian Express reports. The tunnel has been renamed Sonamarg tunnel, after the famous tourist resort that will have round-the-year connectivity thanks to this project. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Lt Governor Manoj Sinha were also present at the inauguration, the report says. LA fires could 'take off' again, BBC reports

The fires in Los Angeles could "take off" again on Tuesday or Wednesday, the Pasadena fire chief tells the BBC. High winds are forecast - and Pasadena fire chief, Chad Augustin, says they are at a "fork in the road" in the fight against the blaze, the report adds. There are three wildfires still burning in the LA area - the largest, the Palisades fire, is just 13% contained. The number of people killed has risen to 24, the report mentions. India Today: Court slams Delhi government for delaying CAG report

The Delhi High Court on Monday rapped the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Delhi government over its handling of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report, India Today reports. A single-judge bench of Justice Sachin Datta said that the government "dragged its feet" to prevent the Assembly session from taking place. "The way you have dragged your feet raises doubts about your bona fides. You should have promptly forwarded the reports to the Speaker and initiated a discussion in the House," the court said. Israel bombs another Gaza City school amid truce talks, Al Jazeera

 

Israeli forces killed at least five Palestinians in an attack on Salah al-Din School in Gaza City that sheltered forcibly displaced people. A total of 26 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since dawn on Monday, Al Jazeera Arabic reports, citing medical sources. The latest attacks came as Israel’s siege of north Gaza crossed the 100-day mark, the report says, with Palestinian officials saying some 5,000 people have been killed or are missing since the offensive began. Israel’s genocide in Gaza has killed at least 46,584 Palestinians and wounded 109,731 since October 7, 2023. Read the full report here.
