Indian Express: Blast at Agra bakery leaves 13 workers injured

A blast at a bakery unit in Agra city left at least 13 of its employees hospitalised with burn injuries on Thursday afternoon. Indian Express reports that the condition of the two is said to be critical. According to police, the blast took place in a 10-foot-tall oven at the bakery located in Transport Nagar area of Agra. Local Station House Officer (SHO) Alok Kumar Singh said that after being informed of the blast, a police team reached the spot and rushed the victims to the hospital by 2 pm. Dense fog continues to blanket Delhi, NDTV reports

 

A thick blanket of fog continued to blanket Delhi on Friday, NDTV reports, reducing visibility and delaying more than 100 flights and over 20 train operations. Officials said that at least 130 flights are running late this morning as the visibility across the national capital dropped between zero to 200 meters, the report adds. According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research, the air quality index (AQI) stood at 294 this morning in the 'poor' category. Pakistan’s ex-PM Imran Khan, wife sentenced to jail in corruption case, Al Jazeera

Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan was on Friday sentenced to 14 years in prison and his wife Bushra Bibi to seven years, Al Jazeera reports, in a case related to the misuse of authority and corruption involving Khan’s Al-Qadir University Project Trust. Khan was also given a fine of 1 million Pakistani rupees, while Bibi was fined half that amount. An accountability court operating from Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, where Khan has been imprisoned since August 2023, had reserved its verdict in December last year and deferred the announcement three times. Doctors say Saif Ali Khan is safe and shifted from ICU: The Hindu

Amid concerns regarding Bollywood Actor Saif Ali Khan’s well-being, Dr Nitin Dange from Lilavati Hospital on Friday confirmed that the actor was doing “extremely well” and was safe. As per The Hindu, he said that Saif Ali Khan has been shifted out from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). However, his movements remain restricted. Read the full report here.

 

Netanyahu says hostage deal now agreed, BBC reports

 

BBC reports that the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says a "deal to release the hostages" has been agreed. Netanyahu had delayed a cabinet vote to approve the Gaza ceasefire deal, due on Thursday, accusing Hamas of seeking last-minute changes to the agreement. On Friday morning, the prime minister's office said he had been informed by the negotiating team that agreements on the deal had been reached, the report adds. It added that the security cabinet would meet later on Friday to ratify the agreement, before approval from the full government is sought. Read the full report here.
