Voting began for the high-octane Delhi Assembly polls, The Hindu reports. Over 1.56 crore electors are set to seal the fate of candidates as all 70 Assembly constituencies are voting in a single phase today with a total of 13,766 polling stations set up at 2,696 polling locations. Delhi recorded 19.95 percent voter turnout till 11 am, the report adds. A paid holiday has been declared for employees in both government and private sectors. Trump wants US to ‘take over’ Gaza after removal of Palestinians: Al Jazeera
US President Donald Trump said he wants the US to take over the war-shattered Gaza Strip after Palestinians are displaced to neighbouring countries, Al Jazeera reports, and develop the territory so the “world’s people” will live there. Trump unveiled his shocking plan during a news conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who visited the White House on Tuesday for a bilateral meeting. Throughout the day, Trump stoked controversy by suggesting Palestinians would “love to leave” Gaza, spurring fears he would back an ethnic cleansing campaign, the report adds. WB govt doctors leading RG Kar hospital agitation face charges, Hindustan Times
The state medical council has accused four West Bengal government doctors, who are at the forefront of the agitation following the August 9, 2024, rape and murder of a post-graduate trainee at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, of disrupting its operations, the police said. Hindustan Times reports that Manas Chakraborty, who served as the council’s registrar until January 31, filed a complaint at Salt Lake’s Electronics Complex police station in the last week of January, said a police officer, adding that no action has been taken on it so far. The four doctors—Manas Gumta, Subarna Goswami, Utpal Banerjee, and Ranjan Bhattacharya—hold senior positions at various state hospitals, the report adds. Read the full report here.

The Philippines' parliament has voted to impeach Vice-President Sara Duterte following complaints about alleged corruption, BBC reports. US plane carrying over 100 deported Indians lands in Amritsar: Indian Express
A military aircraft from the United States carrying over 100 deported Indian immigrants landed at Amritsar’s Shri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport on Wednesday afternoon, Indian Express reports. Earlier, the aircraft was expected to land in the morning. The flight’s arrival drew an unusually large crowd, prompting heightened security measures at the airport, the report adds. The deported individuals include 25 women, 12 minors, and 79 men. The report adds that besides Punjab, the deported individuals are from Haryana, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.
