Paytm lays off 100s of employees after induction of AI, NDTV reports

NDTV reports that One97 Communication, Paytm's parent company, has laid off 100s of employees across various verticals including sales and engineering as company started implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The fintech company believes induction of AI in its operations meant a reduction in costs, improved efficiency of operation and removal of repetitive tasks and roles, says the report. Company has said that induction of AI will help in reducing employees cost by 10 percent at least. Read the full report here.

 

Indian express: TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee mimics V-P Jagdeep Dhankhar again

 

TMC Rajyasabha MP Kalyan Banerjee, who was targeted for mimicking Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, while speaking during a programme in West Bengal reportedly claimed he would do it thousand times, reports Indian express. Calling mimicry as an art form he said it is his fundamental right to express his views and the government can put him in jail but he will not stop. The report further mentions, on last Tuesday, during a protest by the Opposition parties outside parliament, Banerjee mimicked Dhankhar. Read the full report here.

 

Flight operations hit at Delhi, Hyderabad, and other airports due to dense fog: Hindustan Times report

As a dense fog engulfed parts of the states on Monday, several flight operations in New Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Hyderabad were affected, says a report by Hindustan Times. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted very dense fog in several parts of the country till January 2, report further states. Airlines have informed passengers about the ‘low visibility’, as they complained of delays and disruptions on social media. Read the full report here.

 

BBC on 70 killed in Israeli air strike on refugee camp in Gaza

BBC reported that at least 70 people were killed in an Israeli air strike in the Al-Maghazi refugee camp, as per Gaza's Health Ministry. The report further mentions the death toll was likely to rise given the large number of families living in the refugee camp located in the centre of the strip. The injured were rushed to nearby Al-Aqsa Hospital. As per the report, the Israeli military told the BBC it was looking into reports of the strike. Read the full report here.

 

Ukraine, Russia say six civilians killed in attacks on Kherson, Horlivka: Al Jazeera

 

As per a report by Al Jazeera, Ukrainian officials have said that Russian attacks on Ukraine’s southern Kherson region have killed five people. At the same time, Russian-installed authorities of the Russian-occupied eastern town of Horlivka claimed one person was killed in Ukrainian shelling. The report, quoting Ukrainian officials, says the deaths in the attacks on Sunday include an 87-year-old man and his 81-year-old wife. In Russian-controlled Horlivka, Ukrainian shelling killed one woman and wounded six others, as per the Russian officials. Read the full report here.
