NDTV on UP woman molested in ambulance, ailing husband thrown out 

NDTV reports that a woman was allegedly molested inside an ambulance in Uttar Pradesh while accompanying her husband to a hospital. After assaulting her, the ambulance workers also threw her and her husband out of the vehicle after removing his oxygen support. The report added that the woman's husband died during treatment at Gorakhpur Medical College. The incident occurred on August 30 in Siddharthnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. Yunus slams  Hasina for making remarks on Bangladesh from India: Hindustan Times

 

Muhammad Yunus, the head of Bangladesh's interim government, on Thursday hit out at former Bangladesh prime minister Sheikh Hasina for making political remarks on the country from India, Hindustan Times reports, calling it is an “unfriendly gesture”. According to Yunus, Hasina must “remain silent” to prevent the discomfort to both countries until Dhaka requests her extradition. “If India wants to keep her until the time Bangladesh (government) wants her back, the condition would be that she has to keep quiet…" he said as per the report. Yunus was referring to Hasina's remarks from August 13, wherein she demanded justice. Read the full report here.

 

Netanyahu doubles down on control of Gaza's border with Egypt, BBC reports

Israel's prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has again insisted that Israeli forces will not leave the Philadelphi Corridor, BBC reports, a strategically important strip of land in southern Gaza along the border with Egypt. He told foreign media in Jerusalem that he is “open” to considering alternatives to the presence of Israeli troops along the Gaza-Egypt border, as part of any future permanent ceasefire deal – but that he did not see it happening. etanyahu argued that Israeli troops must remain in this buffer zone to prevent weapons and possibly Israeli hostages being smuggled across the border, the report adds. Kolkata doctor’s family allege forced cremation, police bribery, Indian Express

Indian Express reports that the father of the 31-year-old junior doctor who was raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital claimed Wednesday night that he and his family were coerced into cremating her body in a hurry against their wishes. He said they had desired to retain their daughter’s body for further rites but felt compelled to “succumb to immense pressure”, alleging that their house was surrounded by approximately 300-400 police officers after they returned from Tala police station. “We couldn’t say anything then,” he said as per the report, during Wednesday night’s protest at RG Kar. Four dead in Apalachee High School shooting in US state of Georgia, Al Jazeera reports

 

Four people have been killed in Georgia, part of the southern United States, after a shooter opened fire on the grounds of Apalachee High School in the city of Winder, northeast of Atlanta, Al Jazeera reports. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) said in a news conference on Wednesday that the gunman, a 14-year-old student named Colt Gray, surrendered without a struggle and was taken into custody. Two of those killed were students and two were teachers, with nine people taken to local hospitals with “various injuries”. Read the full report here.
