After 50 ministers resigned, the pressure on UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has increased. After the newly placed Finance Minister called out Boris Johnson to resign. Boris has decided to stand down and resign as a Conservative Party leader from the post of the President of the Tory Political Party. Sri Lankan President asks Putin for help to buy fuel, BBC
BBC reported today that Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has asked his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to help his cash-strapped nation to import fuel. Just a few days back, the country’s energy minister had said that the country has run out of fuel and does not have enough cash to buy anymore. The next shipment is due to reach the country in around two weeks' time. Due to this, the country has come to a halt. In addition to this, the report also added that Rajapaksa tweeted in reference to his conversation with the Russian leader, “I request an offer of credit support to import fuel”. NDTV on Mohammed Zubair’s bail plea to SC
Alt News Co-Founder Mohammed Zubair, who was arrested for allegedly hurting religious sentiments through his 2018 tweet, is presently in Delhi Tihar Jail custody and has pleaded to the Supreme Court (SC) for bail, reports NDTV. The SC is likely to hear his plea seeking bail on Friday, July 8. His lawyer argued that “there are death threats against him, people have said that they will kill him, we are worried about his safety.” In addition to this statement, the lawyer also added that the Allahabad High Court refused to suppress the first information report (FIR) against him. Indian Express reported that Dolo-650 manufacturing units searched over tax evasion
The Indian Express has reported that the tax department is looking at the financial records and statements of the Bengaluru-based pharmaceutical company Micro Labs Ltd, the manufacturers of Dolo-650 tablets, for alleged tax evasion. Dolo-650 tablet was widely used during the Covid-19 pandemic. As the tax department searches for the financial records and statements, further details were not disclosed by the department officials. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Mumbai and warned of extremely heavy rainfall in other parts of Maharashtra.
