Shinde Sena Leader's son, accused on hit and run, missing, NDTV reports

NDTV reports that Mihir Shah, the 24-year-old son of a Shiv Sena leader and main accused in the Worli hit-and-run case, is missing a day after the accident left a 45-year-old woman dead. Six police teams are looking for him after the investigation revealed that he was at the wheel of the speeding BMW that crashed into a scooter. The crash left Kaveri Nakhawa dead and her husband Pradeep injured, the report mentions. Rajesh Shah, Mihir's father and deputy leader of the Eknath Shinde-led Sena in Maharashtra's Palghar district, and his driver Rajrushi Bidavat will be produced in court today. The two were arrested last evening in connection with the crash that took place early yesterday. Rajesh Shah was arrested after he did not cooperate with the cops in their investigation, it is learnt. A lookout circular has been issued against Mihir Shah. Read the full report here.

In the highest 24-hour spell of rainfall since 2019, Mumbai’s Santacruz Observatory recorded 268 mm of rainfall on Monday morning. Amid the downpour, Indian Express reported, 51 flights were cancelled to and from Mumbai till 11 am. Al Jazeera on Boeing's guilty plea to avoid trial over fatal 737 Max crashes

Boeing has agreed to plead guilty to fraud to avoid going on trial in the United States on charges stemming from two fatal crashes involving its 737 Max, Al Jazeera reports. Under the plea deal, Boeing would pay a fine of $243.6m and be required to invest at least $455m in its compliance and safety programmes, the US Department of Justice said in a court filing on Sunday. The aircraft giant would also agree to be subject to a third-party monitor’s assessment of its safety and quality procedures for three years, the report adds. The plea agreement announced on Sunday only relates to Boeing’s culpability in relation to the 737 Max crashes in 2018 and 2019, not other incidents that have raised questions about the company’s safety standards. Supreme Court resumes hearing of pleas seeking NEET-UG re-test, Hindustan Times

The Supreme Court on Monday began hearing the batch of pleas related to the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG examination conducted this year. Hindustan Times reports that the apex court is hearing pleas regarding the alleged irregularities in the NEET UG 2024 exam, and the direction to conduct the medical entrance test once again amid paper leak accusations. A bench consisting of Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, along with Justices J B Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, is set to hear 38 petitions concerning the NEET-UG examination. Read the full report here.

France is facing political deadlock after parliamentary elections dealt a blow to the far-right National Rally, BBC reports, but left no party with a majority. National Rally have been pushed to third place, behind a hastily assembled left-wing alliance and Emmanuel Macron's centrists. Prime Minister Gabriel Attal, who is part of Macron's alliance, said he will resign today, the report says.
