Pak opens 6 routes to Iran amid US blockade, NDTV reports
Pakistan, the lead negotiator between the warring United States and Iran, is being accused of "double-dealing" Washington by granting Iran six overland routes to trade with Russia, China and beyond, NDTV reports. The allegations came after Islamabad, earlier this week, officially notified six land transit routes for goods destined for Iran in a bid to bypass the crippled maritime trade routes through the Strait of Hormuz in the Arabian Sea. Severe thunderstorm warning for Delhi-NCR, Hindustan Times reports

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad, predicting rain and thunderstorms on Thursday evening, while Gurugram and Faridabad are under a yellow alert, Hindustan Times reports. The outer parts of the National Capital Region (NCR), like Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, are under a red alert. The report says that skies turned grey in various parts of NCR, an indication of the possible storm. Read the full report here.
China threatens EU with retaliation if it bans Huawei gear: The Straits Times
China said it would retaliate against the European Union if it proceeds with a proposal to ban Huawei Technologies Co’s equipment across the continent, escalating tensions in the long-running clash over national security and the communications company’s products. The Straits Times reports that China’s mission to the EU has asked that the commission erase language that would declare Chinese equipment a cybersecurity concern or label companies from the country as “high risk” suppliers in a proposal from Commission Executive vice-president Henna Virkkunen. If the EU uses the Act to require European businesses to phase out Chinese equipment, China can “launch relevant investigations into the EU or EU businesses and take reciprocal measures”, the report says. India Today on Pawan Khera's bail hearing
The Supreme Court on Thursday reserved its judgment on Congress leader Pawan Khera’s plea seeking anticipatory bail in a case filed by Assam Police on a complaint by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sarma. India Today reports that a bench of Justice JK Maheshwari and Justice Atul Chandurkar heard the matter after the Gauhati High Court rejected Khera’s anticipatory bail application. The case arises from Khera’s allegations that Riniki Bhuyan Sarma held multiple foreign passports and had financial interests abroad. Appearing for Khera, Senior Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi argued that there was no need for custodial interrogation and questioned the necessity of arrest. Read the full report here.
Oil price hits highest since 2022, BBC reports

Oil prices jumped to their highest since 2022 after a report that the US military is set to brief US President Donald Trump on new plans for potential action in the Iran war, BBC reports. US Central Command has prepared a plan for a wave of "short and powerful" strikes on Iran to try to break the deadlock in negotiations with Tehran, news site Axios reported. The BBC has contacted US Central Command and the White House for comment. Brent crude rose by almost 7 percent to more than $126 (£94) a barrel at one point, the highest since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Read the full report here.
