Allahabad HC says, married man staying in live-in relationship not a crime

A married man's live-in relationship is not an offence, observed the Allahabad high court on Friday, saying that social morality cannot override court's duty to protect citizens' rights. Hindustan Times reports that aDivision Bench of Justice JJ Munir and Justice Tarun Saxena was hearing a plea seeking protection of a live-in couple facing threats from the woman's family. Indian Express: Iran says, shipping to and from ports of US-Israeli allies prohibited

 

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said shipping “to and from ports ⁠of ​allies and supporters of the Israeli-American enemies” ​is prohibited through ​any corridor ⁠or to any destination, Indian Express reports as per Tehran media. Citing Iran media report, the IRGC said that the Strait of Hormuz ⁠is ⁠closed and any transit through ⁠the waterway ‌will ​face “harsh measures”. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump announced a 10-day pause on strikes against Iranian energy facilities, citing ongoing talks and a request from Tehran. Two Cuba-bound aid ships missing after leaving Mexico, BBC reports

BBC reports that a search and rescue operation is under way in the Caribbean for two missing sailboats filled with humanitarian supplies travelling from Mexico to Cuba. Mexico has deployed naval teams and military search aircraft to locate the Friendship and Tigger Moth, which were carrying at least nine crew members, the Mexican navy said in a statement. The vessels had been expected to arrive in Havana on Tuesday or Wednesday, but the report says as per the navy that there has been no communication from them and no confirmation of their arrival. Ex-rapper Balendra Shah sworn in as Nepal prime minister, DW reports

 

Nepal's rapper-turned politician Balendra Shah was worn into the country's most powerful office on Friday, DW reports, a month after he swept the general elections on promises of creating jobs and restoring political stability. Shah, 35, is now the youngest person to be prime minister of the Himalayan nation in decades, and the first to be Prime Minister from the Madhesi community — an indigenous community with strong cultural and linguistic similarities to its neighbor India. The report says that President Ram Chandra Poudel administered the oath at 12:34 p.m. local time. In another first, the ceremony was held in a Vedic–Sanatan tradition as per local media.
