Petrol pump rush in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh prompts a clarification, Indian Express

As fuel stations in many cities across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh witnessed panic buying of fuel on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning, Indian Express reports that the Telangana Petroleum Dealers Association and the AP Federation of Petroleum Traders issued statements saying there was no fuel shortage in the states. "Supply chains are functioning normally. Avoid panic buying. Do not store fuel in unauthorised containers. Purchase fuel only as per your regular requirements,” the statement by Telangana Petroleum Dealers Association said. Read the full report here.

 

No LPG supply to households if they refuse PNG switch where available: Govt, Hindustan Times reports

 

Hindustan Times reports that the government has mandated that cooking gas LPG supply to households will be discontinued if consumers fail to switch to piped natural gas where such connectivity is available, under a new order aimed at accelerating gas network expansion and reducing reliance on a single fuel. As India grapples with an LPG shortage due to the war in West Asia disrupting supplies from key sources, the government is pushing households and commercial users to switch to piped natural gas (PNG) -- a more convenient alternative that is both domestically produced and sourced through diversified supply, the report adds. Iranian military says US is 'negotiating with itself', BBC reports

The US is "negotiating with itself", a spokesman for the Iranian military said, adding: "Someone like us will never come to terms with someone like you". BBC reports that the comments came after US President Donald Trump insisted Iran wants a deal "so badly" - saying on Tuesday that Iran gave the US a "very big present worth a tremendous amount of money" Unconfirmed reports also say the US has handed over a 15-point peace plan - it includes Iran dismantling nuclear facilities, in exchange for lifting of sanctions, the report adds. Bird flu kills 4,400 chickens in Chhattisgarh, NDTV reports

At least 4,400 chickens have died following a bird flu (avian influenza) outbreak at a state-run poultry farm in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur district, NDTV reports, prompting authorities to intensify surveillance within a 10-kilometre radius. Veterinary Department's joint director Dr GS Tanwar on Tuesday said around 4,400 chickens died due to the viral infection at the government poultry farm in the Koni area between March 19 and 24. Canada tells Israel that Lebanon’s sovereignty ‘must not be violated’, Al Jazeera

 

Canada has said that it “strongly condemns” Israel’s plans to occupy southern Lebanon and warned that Lebanese sovereignty and territorial integrity “must not be violated”, Al Jazeera reports, amid plans by Israeli forces to mount a major ground invasion of its northern neighbour. Israel’s preparations to invade and take control of territory up to 30km (18.6 miles) inside Lebanon’s southern border come as the death toll in Lebanon from Israeli attacks has risen to at least 1,072 people, with almost 3,000 wounded, since the start of this month.
