NDTV: BJP seeks campaign ban on M Kharge over remark against PM Modi
A delegation comprising Union Ministers - Nirmala Sitharaman, Kiren Rijiju, Arjun Ram Meghwal - and other BJP leaders met the full bench of the Election Commission on Wednesday and complained about Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge's "terrrorist" comment against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. NDTV reports that in his clarification, the Congress chief said he meant PM Modi is "terrorising people and political parties", insisting he never called him a "terrorist". The Supreme Court of India today said that, as far as social welfare and social reform are concerned, it is a very wide term. Indian Express reports that the Supreme Court has started the seventh day of hearing of the case Sabarimala with the continuation of the submission of the senior advocate Subramanium. The matter concerns the discrimination against women in religious places, including the Sabarimala temple, and the scope of religious freedom under the Constitution. “The state represents the will of the people, and if the people want a certain social evil to be reformed, that power can be exercised,” the Chief Justice of India said as per the report. Iran says it has seized two cargo ships in Strait of Hormuz, BBC reports
Iran has attacked three cargo ships in the Strait of Hormuz, BBC reports as per Iranian reports, after US President Donald Trump said he was extending the US-Iran ceasefire. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it has seized two of three ships and is escorting them to the Iranian coast. Trump said last night he was extending the ceasefire, while also maintaining the US blockade of Iranian ports, which is designed to put pressure on Iran before talks with the US in Pakistan, the report adds. ED files charge sheet against British national in Videocon money laundering case, Hindustan Times
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a charge sheet against British citizen Sachin Dev Duggal in connection with its probe into alleged money laundering against the Videocon Group, the agency said on Wednesday, Hindustan Times reports. It said Duggal, a resident of London and chairman of Swiss company nHoldings SA, is the beneficial owner of Indian tech firms Nivio Technologies and Engineer.AI. The report mentions that in December 2024, the ED filed a charge sheet against Videocon Group chairman Venugopal N Dhoot and 12 others in the case. Read the full report here.

Nepal’s home minister Sudan Gurung announced his resignation on Wednesday amid growing criticism over his financial transactions since his election last month on an anti-corruption platform, The Straits Times reports. Gurung, a key figure in the Gen Z protests last September that toppled Nepal’s previous government, said he was stepping down to ensure a “fair investigation” into matters related to him. Gurung participated in the deadly protests that began as a demonstration against a brief social media ban, but were fed by wider grievances at corruption and a woeful economy, the report says.
