India Today: RJD's Tejashwi Yadav elected as Leader of Opposition in Bihar Legislative Assembly
India Today reports that RJD's Tejashwi Yadav was on Monday elected as Leader of Opposition in Bihar Legislative Assembly. To be recognised as the Leader of the Opposition in any assembly, a party must secure at least 10 per cent of the total strength of the House, which in this case is 25 (10% of 243). Incidentally, the report says that the RJD secured 25 seats in the recently concluded Assembly elections. Read the full report here.
Sheikh Hasina sentenced to death in Bangladesh: Indian Express

Sheikh Hasina, the ousted Prime Minister of Bangladesh, was awarded death sentence by the country’s International Crimes Tribunal (ICT-BD) after it found her guilty of crimes against humanity, Indian Express reports. Following the ruling, Hasina said that she was “given no fair to defend” herself in court. The ruling caps a months-long trial that concluded she had ordered a deadly crackdown on a student-led uprising last year. Her conviction came alongside her ex–interior minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, and former police chief, Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, the report adds. Read the full report here.
Battles in West Kordofan as Sudan army resists RSF’s eastward push, Al Jazeera
Al Jazeera reports that the Sudan army is holding on to its last stronghold in West Kordofan as the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) pushes to take control of the province east of Darfur. The army said on Sunday it had repelled an attack against its headquarters in the town of Babnusa, which has been under repeated attacks from the RSF. The paramilitary force has been pushing eastwards in recent weeks, having solidified control in Darfur, the report adds. Read the full report here.
Indian pilgrims' bus crashes in Saudi Arabia, Hindustan Times
At least 45 people were charred to death after a bus carrying Umrah pilgrims collided with a diesel tanker near Madinah, according to local media in Saudi Arabia on Monday. Hindustan Times reports that the victims are believed to be Indian nationals, with several reportedly from Hyderabad. Preliminary inputs indicate that at least 16 of those killed in the Saudi bus mishap were Hyderabad residents, Telangana information technology minister D Sridhar Babu said. Trump calls on House Republicans to vote to release Epstein files, BBC reports

US President Donald Trump has urged lawmakers in his own party to vote to release files relating to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, BBC reports. Trump wrote on Sunday night that Republicans in the House of Representatives should do so "because we have nothing to hide". The report says that the reversal of his recent position follows a slow drip feed of documents concerning the disgraced financier by House Democrats, some of which reference Trump, who has always denied any link to Epstein's sex abuse and trafficking.
