AIADMK shifts MLAs to Puducherry resort amid buzz over TVK poaching attempt: Hindustan Times
Hindustan Times reports that nearly 25-27 newly-elected MLAs of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) have been accommodated at a resort in neighbouring Puducherry, party leaders said on Thursday, amid speculation of attempts by the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) to secure support for government formation. The development comes months after veteran AIADMK leader KA Sengottaiyan switched to actor-politician Vijay-led TVK in January 2026. The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee on Thursday slammed Governor Rajendra Arlekar, saying that the governments are not decided on the lawns of Lok Bhavan, but on the floor of the House, Indian Express reports. Vijay met the Governor at Lok Bhavan early on Thursday. Soon after, TVK MLA VS Babu, speaking to reporters on government formation in the state, assured that “things will end well soon.” The report says that this comes after Tamil Nadu Governor Arlekar’s insisted TVK to produce documentary proof of majority support. BBC: Hantavirus-hit cruise ship on way to Canary Islands after three evacuated
BBC reports that two people in a serious condition who were evacuated from a cruise ship with a confirmed outbreak of deadly hantavirus have arrived in the Netherlands for treatment. A third passenger in a stable condition was on board an evacuation flight that has been delayed, the operator added. The MV Hondius is now sailing towards Spain's Canary Islands after being anchored for three days near Cape Verde, an archipelago nation off the West African coast, the report says. 6 missing, 3 rescued after boat submerges in Yamuna in UP, NDTV reports
In a tragic incident, six people went missing after a boat carrying nine people from Ghatampur submerged in the Yamuna River in Uttar Pradesh's Hamirpur district on Wednesday, NDTV reports, while three people were rescued safely, District Magistrate Abhishek Goyal said. The District Magistrate said that the local villagers and police rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident. Polls suggest the populist Reform UK of Brexit campaigner Nigel Farage will expand its control of councils in England, and could form the main opposition in Scotland and Wales to the pro-independence Scottish National Party and Plaid Cymru.
