Amendment to RTI spark protests, civil society orgs to mobilise

India
The new bill amends section 13 and section 16 of the Right to Information Act 2005. Where earlier, the Central Chief Information Commissioner and the Information Commissioner’s term was held at 5 years or until the age of 65 (whichever is earlier), the amendment states that the appointment and term of these officers will now be held responsible by the central government.
