BCCI’s revolutionary announcement: equal pay for men, women cricketers, NDTV

NDTV’s report talks about the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) revolutionary announcement to bring the women’s cricket teams' pay bar equal to the men’s cricket team in terms of match fees. BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirmed that the contracted senior women cricketers will earn the same match fee as their male counterparts. BBC on world facing ‘first truly global energy crisis’

 

With respect to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, BBC’s report states that the invasion will have a long-lasting effect on the energy supply and markets. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), the world will face its first “truly global energy crisis”. Free Press Journal reports Lakshadweep enters the list of blue beaches

The International eco-label “blue-flag” has been accorded to two new beaches - Minicoy Thundi and Kadmat beach, both in Lakshadweep, reports Free Press Journal. This will add to the recognition of India’s commitment to protect and conserve the pristine coastal and marine ecosystem through holistic management resources. Reuters: Twitter shares to be suspended on NYSE as Musk nears takeover

Reuters reports that Twitter Inc (TWTR.N) shares will be suspended from trading on the New York Stock Exchange’s website (NYSW), as Elon Musk faces a court-ordered deadline to close his $44 billion deal to take over the social media platform. The report also adds that Musk visited Twitter’s headquarters in San Francisco and hinted he was the company’s top boss after he updated his profile bio to “Chief Twit”. French President Macron vows to raise retirement age to 65, up from 62, reports France 24

 

French President Emmanuel Macron vowed to implement a pension reform that would eventually push up the retirement age by three years to 65. This would make the younger generations work longer. Macron said that the changes would start being applied next year. The report adds Macron also mentioned that “There’s only one way to do it if we are lucid.
