Reuters reports that UK Prime Minister Truss apologises for mistakes

Reuters report says that UK Prime Minister Liz Truss apologised for mistakes in her programme that affected the confidence of the investors, these actions also affected her poll ratings. With the cabinet protesting that she step down, she said that she would not and will be sticking around for some more time. She also said that “I wanted to act but to help people with their energy bills to deal with the issue of high taxes, but we went too far and too fast.” The report also adds that the newly elected Finance Minister Jeremy Hunt dropped the remaining planks of Truss’s tax-cutting agenda. Bilikis Bano convicts released for good behaviour: Gujarat Govt to SC, Live Law

 

The Gujarat government has told the Supreme Court (SC) that it released the 11 convicts in the Biliks Bano rape case on completing their 14 years sentence. Additionally, it is mentioned that their “behaviour was found to be good” and after approval from the central government, the orders were confirmed. The report says that the Gujarat government decided on the policy stating the grant of remission to prisoners as a part of the celebration of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. According to the report by India Today, a partial solar eclipse will be seen on October 25, this event will begin at around 8:58 am. The eclipse will take place in three phases. This news comes weeks after the closest approach of Jupiter to Earth. The report also says that the next such partial solar eclipse will occur on March 29, 2025. BBC on the Ukraine war: US says Iran violated UN sanctions

After Kyiv was struck by Kamikaze drones on Monday, the US says it agrees with the Western allies, the French and the British, that Iran’s supply of explosive drones to Russia violates the United Nations (UNs) sanctions, reports BBC. The US state department mentions that the drones violate UN Security Council Resolution 2231, which is linked to Iran’s nuclear accord, barring the transfer of any Iranian military technologies. NDTV: Pilgrims, pilot killed in helicopter crash near Kedarnath

 

NDTV reports that six people, including a pilot, were killed after a helicopter carrying the pilgrims crashed near Kedarnath. The crash took place near Garud Chatti and a rescue operation team is on its way, as mentioned by the officials. It is said that the helicopter crashed right after it took off from the Kedarnath shrine. The report mentions that the information suggests that bad weather and poor visibility has caused the crash.
