NDTV report on Kathua gang rape case: Accused to be tried as an adult
The Supreme Court (SC) held that one of the accused, Shubham Sangra, in the gangrape and murder case of an eight-year-old nomadic girl in Kathua (Jammu and Kashmir) was not a juvenile at the time of the offence and now can be tired afresh as an adult, reports NDTV. SC also added that the medical opinion regarding the age of an accused cannot be brushed aside in the absence of legal proof on the same issue. The report also adds that the orders of the Chief Judicial Magistrate at Kathua and the High Court (HC) say that the accused was not a juvenile at the time of the offence. Times Now reports about Artemis taking off
Artemis 1 mission lifted off on Wednesday, seeking to build on the successes of its five-decade-old predecessor, the Apollo programme, reports Times Now. Apollo was so named because it conjured the grand image of the Greek and Roman Sun God driving his chariot across the skies, which is why the mission’s lofty target deserved such a befitting name, the report mentions. It also says that Artemis took off with eight billion hopes pinned on it. The US space agency National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has a long-term plan to explore the possibility of building a sustainable life, beyond earth. Euro News talks about the Missile blast in Poland
The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) ambassadors have met in an emergency session amid fears that Russia’s war in Ukraine could spread after a projectile struck a village inside Poland near the Ukrainian border killing two people, reports Euro News. According to the sources, various reports from the NATO meeting point to the belief that the missile blast was caused by the Ukrainian air defence. Indonesia hands over G20 presidency to India as Bali summit ends, India TV
India TV reports that Indonesia President Joko Widodo handed over the Group of 20 Nations (G20) presidency to India for the coming year at the Bali summit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has termed it a matter of pride for every Indian citizen. BBC: Donald Trump says he’ll run for president again in 2024
Former US President Donald Trump has launched his third bid for the White House, reports BBC. He declared that “America’s comeback starts right now”. The report also adds that President Joe Biden, who defeated Trump two years ago, has said that he may run for re-election in 2024. While announcing his run for the presidency, Trump said that “for millions of Americans, the past two years under Joe Biden have been a time of pain, hardship, anxiety, and despair”.
